TMJ
Do you struggle with TMJ or jaw pain? Do you clench or grind your teeth? Do you have pain while chewing or opening your mouth? I can help with that! Not many people realize that massage can help ease the pain and discomfort that comes along with it. Treatment for this massage will focus on the neck and jaw but I will also take into consideration the body as a whole.
Many adults of varying ages have jaw pain that can cause a range of symptoms, whether in the form of mere discomfort or, even more unfortunately, pain so sharp that essential activities such as eating become a difficult task. For those experiencing mild or severe manifestations of what’s commonly referred to as TMJD (clinically known as TemporoMandibular Joint Dysfunction), finding relief can be difficult.
As someone well-acquainted with the experience of physical pain, I know first hand how frustrating the search for relief can be, thus I’m here to offer my expertise in both Neuromuscular Rehabilitation therapy and Myofascial Release to help relieve such pain in others.
Through the use of a wide range of techniques, massage therapy and Myofascial Release has proven effective in the reduction of client jaw pain and increased mandibular joint mobility. One method frequently employed to ease jaw pain is to work muscles in the inner mouth that are crucial for pain relief. By focusing on this part of the jaw, which produces far better results than strictly external work, we hope to ease TMJD pain. Along with the inter-oral muscles of the mouth we will look at the rest of the body, dysfunction in places as far away as your hips can result in jaw pain.
